    "title": "KISSCare Ultra - Non-Stick Silicone Dental Coating",
    "inventor_name": "Keith Kent",
    "publication_year": 2014,
    "device_name": "KISSCare Ultra",
    "goal": "Create a durable, non-stick surface on natural teeth, dentures, implants and restorations that prevents plaque, stains and acid damage for up to six months.",
    "problem_addressed": "Dental plaque buildup, staining, acid-induced caries and tooth sensitivity; difficulty of adhesives on non-stick silicone surfaces.",
    "concept_summary": "A self-bonding silicone polymer gel (polydimethylsiloxane) is applied to a tooth surface where it catalytically polymerises into a three-layer structure (methyl top layer, silicone mid-layer, oxygen bottom layer) that bonds to the substrate and renders the surface inert, non-adhesive to plaque and acidic foods.",
    "detailed_description": "KISSCare Ultra is a tasteless, non-toxic, non-flammable silicone polymer gel composed of pure polydimethylsiloxane (dimethicone). When applied with a cotton swab, floss or prophy cup, the gel cures at ambient temperature (or mild heat) to form a thin inert silicone coating. The coating consists of a methyl-rich outer layer, a silicone middle layer and an oxygen-rich interfacial layer that chemically bonds to enamel, denture acrylic, or implant metal. The cured surface is hydrophobic, resists bacterial adhesion, acid attack and staining, and also acts as a desensitiser. Application of a full arch takes less than ten minutes and the coating remains effective for up to six months before re-application is needed. The product is sold by WDR Scientific and is classified by the US FDA as GRAS.",
